Ludlow, Chicopee & Holyoke, MA – September 15, 2025 – The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) proudly announces the merger of VFW Post 3236 (Ludlow) and VFW Post 625 (Chicopee/Holyoke), uniting two long-standing organizations under one banner to better serve veterans across the communities of Ludlow, Chicopee, and Holyoke.
This merger, effective September 8th, 2025, combines the rich traditions, membership, and resources of both posts. The newly unified post will continue operating as Sgt. Joshua D. Desforges VFW Post 3236, while honoring the proud history and legacy of William F. Davitt/George G. Clarke VFW Post 625.
“Our mission has always been to serve veterans, their families, and our community,” said Christine Bassett, Post Commander of the newly merged post. “By joining forces, we are stronger together. This merger ensures that we can continue to provide programs, advocacy, and support for veterans in Ludlow, Chicopee, Holyoke, and beyond.”
· The consolidation will allow the post to:
· Expand outreach programs and community services for veterans.
· Strengthen fellowship and camaraderie among members.
· Maintain a stronger financial and organizational foundation.
· Continue honoring the legacy of veterans from Ludlow, Chicopee, and Holyoke.
Residents of all three communities can expect to see the same dedication to patriotic events, memorial ceremonies, and support initiatives that both posts have long been known for.
“Ludlow, Chicopee, and Holyoke have proud traditions of honoring service and sacrifice,” said Eric Segundo, Post Quartermaster. “This merger ensures that the VFW remains a vibrant and lasting presence in Western Massachusetts.”
